Are you interested in becoming a school teacher? Our Teacher Education Program will provide you with a sequence of professional courses and field experiences leading to initial teaching certification. Undergraduate students have the option to pursue teacher certification while majoring in a complementary field of interest. Graduate students have the option to pursue teacher certification along with their master’s degree or as a separate post-baccalaureate certificate program. The program is accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).

Continuing Education for Teachers
In addition to certifying new teachers, we also offer a range of programs to develop existing teachers’ skills and to help them further their careers
Developmental Models of Autism Intervention Certificate Program
The Post-Baccalaureate Certificate program in Developmental Models of Autism Intervention (DMAI) prepares teachers, educators, mental health practitioners and allied health professionals to use assessment, education, and intervention strategies to work with children with autism and their families.
Educational Assessment Certificate Program
The goal of this certificate program is to provide aspiring and practicing educators, educational leaders, and others invested in schools with the practical knowledge and skills needed to engage in valid and ethical assessment practices that guide decision making to inform teaching practices and school/district policies.
Gifted and Talented Education
The Gifted and Talented Education graduate certificate is a fully online, nine-credit program designed for aspiring and practicing classroom teachers, resource specialists, educational consultants, administrators, and parents.
Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Certificate Program
This fifteen-credit graduate program offers professionals the opportunity to examine the optimal physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of the infant and young child within the context of the family.
New Literacies, Digital Technologies and Learning Certificate Program
The certificate in New Literacies, Digital Technologies and Learning provides educators with sound theories that help shape practice, along with practical strategies for developing effective ways of using new literacies and web technologies in learning contexts.
